We each get about 100 usable hours a week, once you strip away sleep (≈ 8 hrs/day) and natural idle time (≈ 2 hrs/day). Those 100 hours are your real life budget.
How you spend them falls into two buckets:
Contribution: Working, learning, creating, or serving with the primary intent that others will benefit.
Examples: Paid work, volunteering, caregiving, cooking for others, studying for a degree, writing or creating for others.
Consumption: Using what others have created primarily for your own benefit. This includes entertainment, services, and most forms of rest.
Examples: Streaming shows, cooking for self, gaming, scrolling, eating out, spa visits, reading for personal enjoyment, playing sports for fun.
